Personal Statement
I am a professional engineer with more than five years of experience in Alberta’s oil and gas sector, focusing on process safety, reliability, and efficiency. Graduating summa cum laude in chemical engineering from the University of Ottawa and later completing a master of public policy degree from the University of Calgary has prepared me to navigate complex regulatory environments.
Currently, as manager of business planning and reporting within the Government of Alberta’s Executive Council, I lead data-driven improvements to streamline mandate tracking and reporting. These efforts ensure quality assurance of policy and legislative proposals and enhance government efficiency. As a private pilot and mountaineer, I value precision, preparedness, and continuous improvement—principles that guide my approach to leadership and problem-solving.
I believe my combined expertise in engineering and public policy positions me to bring a fresh perspective to APEGA Council. My collaborative leadership style emphasizes clear communication, a strategic outlook, and evidence-based decision-making.
I am committed to advancing responsible stewardship of our profession by upholding public safety and professional excellence, protecting our designations, and engaging ethically with emerging technologies. If elected, I will strive to ensure that APEGA remains a forward-looking regulator and aligns with the highest standards of integrity.

Get to Know the Candidate in Four Questions
What does self-regulation mean to you as a member of APEGA?
To me, self-regulation is both a privilege and a responsibility, enabling engineering and geoscience professionals to enforce rigorous standards and protect public welfare without external oversight. This autonomy reflects the trust that Albertans place in our judgment, holding us accountable to maintain integrity and competency.
What would you bring to Council?
I bring a unique blend of practical engineering experience, public policy expertise, collaborative problem-solving, and political acumen to council. If elected, I will help drive APEGA towards excellence as a regulator that protects public welfare, fosters stronger member engagement, and ensures transparent communication.
As the regulator of engineering and geoscience, what challenges does APEGA face?
APEGA must adapt to emerging technologies, meet rising demands for safety and sustainability, and unite a diverse membership in ethical, forward-thinking practices. The global nature of engineering and geoscience complicates this, with design and data often outsourced to low-cost centres, requiring vigilant regulatory oversight. APEGA must ensure consistent standards, protect public welfare, and maintain trust in self-regulation, even as legislative frameworks evolve and new risks emerge.
What is the value of a professional licence with APEGA?
An APEGA licence signifies demonstrated competence, integrity, and accountability. It protects the public, fosters trust in our professions, and enables members to serve society through high-calibre, ethical work.
