Manon Plante, a professional engineer, earned her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from McGill University in 1989, adding to it a master’s degree in defence studies from the Canadian Forces College in 2009. As a Canadian military engineer, she spent the first 25 years of her career in various roles within the Canadian Armed Forces and retired at the rank of lieutenant-colonel.

After her retirement, Plante worked for APEGA as the operations officer and later with the Government of Alberta as an assistant deputy minister. Currently, she is the senior planning advisor at Women Building Futures. She has extensive expertise and experience in developing and managing large maintenance and construction infrastructure programs, organizational management systems (such as business planning, performance, enterprise risk, improvement, and change) and long-term programming and planning, including developing strategic plans.

A passionate executive leader with more than 30 years of experience, Plante prides herself on being a champion of active participation and engagement, which she’s shown by serving on APEGA Council since 2016, including as vice-president in 2021–2022, and sitting on many Council committees. Plante is a fellow of Engineers Canada.
