APEGA’s Outgoing Registrar and CEO Receives King Charles III Coronation Medal

The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) is pleased to congratulate Jay Nagendran, P.Eng., FCAE, ICD.D, FEC, FGC (Hon.), former registrar and chief executive officer of APEGA, on receiving a King Charles III Coronation Medal for his exceptional contributions and outstanding service to Alberta in the fields of engineering and geoscience.
The Hon. Martin Long, minister of infrastructure, Government of Alberta, nominated Nagendran for the honour, and presented him with the medal on March 24, 2025. He received one of 474 medals presented to residents of Alberta, and one of 30,000 medals presented to Canadians.
This Canadian commemorative medal marks His Majesty King Charles III’s Coronation on May 6, 2023. It recognizes 30,000 individuals who have made significant contributions to Canada, or Canada’s communities, regions, provinces, and territories, or have made outstanding achievements abroad, bringing credit to Canada. Nominees are chosen through national and local organizations including community and cultural groups, professional associations, and regional partners.
Nagendran retired from his position on April 1, 2025, after eight years of leading APEGA in excellence in engineering and geoscience regulation. He is supporting APEGA’s new registrar and CEO in the leadership transition until April 30, 2025.
