This presentation is designed to provide a basic understanding of how taxes impact your financial life. We will explore what can be done now, and in the future, to minimize the tax that you pay along critical points in your life. We will cover the following concepts:

  • tax planning for individuals and families (20 min) will cover topics of portfolio construction and taxation in retirement
  • tax planning for incorporated professionals and business owners (15 min) covers how corporations can be used to grow your wealth and minimize tax impacts
  • tax planning for your estate (15 min) includes tips on how to structure your will and other ideas to minimize taxation at the end of life and to efficiently transfer assets to the next generation
  • questions period (10 min) will include taking some time to answer any questions from the audience

About the Presenter

Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Dallin Doney holds a bachelor of science in geomatics engineering and a master of business administration with a specialization in finance both from the University of Calgary. He is now working towards his designation as a certified financial planner.

Dallin has had extensive international sales and business development experience in the oil and gas and the high-tech industries. In his previous working roles, Dallin has had great success in creating strategic customer relations and leading professional sales teams. He has established a successful financial planning practice with IG Wealth Management and continues to grow his practice. Dallin and his wife, Tami, live in the Okotoks area and are enjoying raising a family of four children.
