Webinar | CSA Structural Design and Welding Requirements

In this webinar, we will look at the welding standards used for the design, welding, and Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) certification programs for structures built to meet Canadian municipal, provincial, and federal building codes, bridges, occupational health and safety codes, specifications, and regulations.

The CWB is the sole administrator of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) welding certification programs for companies performing welding on projects following building, bridge, or other client-specified Canadian codes or standards. The CWB has noticed that competing standards (American and European) are being used for Canadian projects by many companies, especially when items are procured from overseas vendors. 

The CWB receives many complaints regarding this issue, and this presentation aims to raise awareness about the importance of including and following Canadian standards in project design and procurement specifications. CWB works together with the building officials at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels and is in constant discussions on how to ensure Canadian standards are being used by EPC, fabricators, and erectors companies.

The presentation will explain the connection between the CSA welding certification programs and Canadian building codes filtered through the design and fabrication standards. It will also outline the welding certification requirements and help attendees identify if they are being met by welding fabricators and erectors. At the end of the presentation, we will present some examples of welding deficiencies, risks involved when using non-certified CWB organizations, and suggest the next steps required.
