Central Alberta Branch Tour | Spooky Trestle

25 Oct 2024
Register by October 24, 2024

Enjoy a spooky trestle tour of the abandoned Mintlaw Trestle to get you in the spirit of Halloween!

The trestle has been abandoned since 1983 and is currently owned by Red Deer County. It is the longest and highest steel trestle bridge in Central Alberta, having a length of 2,112 ft and a height of 110 ft. A short historical presentation of the trestle will be given and an update on the status of the trestle and future prospects for conversion into a hiking trail will be presented by Red Deer County representatives.

The total hiking distance is around 2 km. The tour group must stay together as the tour will be taking place during hunting season, so no stragglers, and the area does have hazards such as steep embankments and rough terrain. Brightly colored clothing is recommended. Antler hats should be left at home. No high-heeled shoes permitted. No guns or weapons are allowed. Walking sticks are suggested to ward off any dangerous wildlife or ghosts in the area.

All participants must wear long-sleeved shirts and pants, and closed-toe, laced shoes. No shorts allowed.

Register today, as spaces are limited!
